Turnover packages rarely fail because the work was bad.
They fail because two documents disagree — and nobody compared them until the client did. None of the failures below are visible inside any single document, which is why the client finds them and the contractor doesn’t.
What actually gets a job book sent back
A weld in steel and not on paperThe iso shows 47 welds; the log has 46. Finding which one means walking the line with a print.
Continuity that lapsed mid-jobEvery weld after that date is unqualified. The fix is cutting them out, after the system is tested and painted.
A heat number with no MTRThe material may be sound. Untraceable material is non-compliant material.
A calibration expired before useThe gauge certificate ran out eleven days before the pressure test. The test is unverifiable.
An NCR nobody closedOne open nonconformance holds the whole package, however complete everything else is.
An as-built that contradicts the logA joint was relocated, redlined on the drawing, never updated in the weld log.
